Blind Fitting Service
Even though fitting a window blind seems simple for DIY-minded individuals, it can be daunting for others who don’t know how to do it.
Perhaps you don’t want to do it yourself. A recent call from a customer prompted me to remind those in these situations to be aware of the following things:
Before you buy, make sure to inspect the surface where the blind will be installed. Do you think it is suitable? Can the blind be fitted into the top or the front of your window? This will ensure that the blind can be mounted in the right way. Front, top, or can it be fitted either one way?
If you aren’t sure, you can ask the person fitting your window to take a look at it and make a recommendation. If you are unsure, it is worth asking the person fitting it to take a look at your window and give advice.
Blinds are very easy to fit. If you ask for quotes for blind fitting, you should allow 20-30 minutes depending on the type and size of the blind. Also, make sure to request detailed preparation time or that the fitter inform you how long it took to prepare the blind.
An experienced DIY enthusiast or fitter can complete a blind-fitting job in less than an hour with no preparation.
Make sure to check whether you will need to pay travel expenses or additional charges for items like preparation, screws and brackets, as well as any minimum charges.
You will need to allow enough time to rest or eat while you wait for the blinds to be fitted. If the retailer does not offer a fitting service do they know of someone who can? This may be an indication that the person has experience in dealing with their window blind range.
The customer that inspired me to write this was required to pay for a full-day fitting. It should have taken about 3 hours. The fitter spent much of his time outside on his mobile, looking at the blinds but did not do anything.
As the person who sold the blinds, I wanted to make sure he was not taken advantage of.
As with all things, it is not uncommon for a small percentage of unreliable tradesmen to ruin things. It is best to confirm these details in advance.
